24 Day Challenge overview page

 

This isn’t a fad diet that eliminates entire food groups. Instead, our food suggestions revolve around a well-balanced diet of lean proteins, vegetables, complex carbohydrates and other snack items such as healthy fats, fruits, dairy, and AdvoCare products.

AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge Day’s 1-10 is the phase when we cleanse our body so we become better at absorbing nutrition.

The key to reaching your goals are to ensure that your body is receiving the nutrients it needs to promote burning body fat, building lean muscle and staying hydrated.

Eat often:
Food stimulates our basic metabolic rate. Frequent smaller meals rather than fewer large ones help to keep our metabolic rate high. A higher metabolism burns more calories throughout the day it also promotes our bodies to use rather than store fat.

Protein:
Minimum of 3-5 times daily. Protein stimulates your basic metabolic rate by almost 30% while carbohydrates and (healthy) fat lead to a 10% increase.

The more muscle we have, the more calories we burn. But, if we don’t eat protein we can’t build healthy muscle. A pound of muscle requires more calories per day to maintain itself (meaning, while at rest our body will burn more calories) while a pound of fat requires fewer.

The Daily Plan:
Begin the habit of eating every 3 hours. With each eating event, include a protein source. (Our goal is to have small eating events throughout the day.)

Our metabolism looks for food (nutrition) every 3 hours. So feed it and keep it as high as possible.

Minimize eating out. Minimize or omit cheese. If you eat dairy choose fat free. If you eat yogurt choose Greek, fat free without added sugar.

Never Skip Breakfast. (with breakfast always include a protein) If we skip breakfast our body begins storing fat because the metabolic signal tells the body that we are going into starvation mode.

Our suggested water goal is; half of your body weight in ounces of water daily. If you’re not drinking this much, gradually over the next few days increase water.

Sleep 7-9 hours each night.

Take pictures, just for yourself. (front and side)
Take measurements & weight. (to get a baseline)

7 Tips for Getting the Most Out of the Advocare 10 Day Cleanse

 

One of my favorite things to do is Cleanse. Sounds weird, I know. But, after you experience how good you feel, you too may put ‘cleansing’ on your favorites list.

The purpose for cleansing. Choosing unhealthy foods or drinks (such as fried food, donut or soda or alcohol) some of the unhealthy choices may stay in our gut. An unhealthy lining builds up and good nutrition can not be absored as well. So a cleanse helps prepare your body for optimal nutrient absorption.

Not every cleanse is safe or effective. The FDA has issued warnings when unapproved and sometimes dangerous substances are found to be added to “detox cleanses.” However, with this cleanse I am assured of both safety and effectiveness.

Our immune system, kidneys, liver, and skin work around the clock to keep our body running smoothly. So, it’s important to ensure our system is efficient at absorbing nutrients.

I can tell when it is time to cleanse, my stomach gets bloated, my skin breaks out more frequently and my energy decreases. With this herbal cleanse we eat REAL food, fruits, vegetables and clean proteins.

Why I Love this Cleanse:

It includes a Probiotic to rebuild the healthy bacteria. Frequently individuals do not have a well established flora of healthy bacteria in their intestinal tract. As a result, more time may be required for the probiotics to colonize and populate the intestines.

Tips for the Advocare 10 Day Cleanse

1) Follow the directions. Avoid fried, heavy foods, junk food, dairy, sodas and alcohol.

Follow Directions. Take the AM (probiotic) in the morning. Take the PM (Herbal Cleanse caplet) in the evening.

2) I feel bloated – Feeling bloated maybe a sign that your body is detoxifying and releasing the toxins built up on the intestinal walls (a good thing!). Ensure you are drinking 8oz of water every hour (to help move the toxins through your system) and take a minimum of 4 OmegaPlex per day. Take  during lunch or dinner (to help reduce inflammation of your digestive system). Also, ensure you are having a daily BM. If you want to ‘kick your hydration up a notch’ consider adding Rehydrate to your daily regimen.

Foods that may cause bloating are: (it may help if you eliminate these for a few days)
Apples
Broccoli
Asparagus
Black Beans
Grapes
Hummus

3) I forget to take my Hearbal Cleanse caplets before bed. Tricks to remember are put them on your nightstand (keep out of reach from children and pets) or tape them to your bathroom mirror.

Let’s Talk Fiber:


5) Which Fiber is best?
: the Advocare fiber drinks are 10 grams of fiber in three flavors. The difference between the fiber drinks are:

Citrus Fiber Drink powder has a much different appearance than the Peaches & Cream Fiber Drink powder. Citrus Fiber Drink has some ingredients that help waste move through the intestine a little more quickly, while Peaches & Cream may have more of a bulking action. A customer who has a tendency toward constipation would most likely experience greater success with Citrus Fiber Drink, if approved by their physician. Lastly, the Unflavored fiber has almost no flavor and dissolves very well in water or spark.

6) Experiencing sluggish elimination or other changes in regularity, constipation, gas, mild intestinal discomfort?

A) Many people do not usually have regular, daily elimination and therefore, consuming Fiber Drink may not increase the frequency of their bowel movements.

B) Diet is a key factor in healthy, regular elimination, and it is equally important when using Herbal Cleanse. Consume plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grains during this time. Conversely, a diet consisting of primarily fried foods and refined grains and sugar while using Herbal Cleanse does not enhance regular elimination or overall health and wellness, and will contribute to less desirable outcomes.

C) Daily exercise plays a key role in efficient function of the GI tract. Individuals who do not engage inadequate daily exercise or any exercise, are at greater risk of irregular elimination and/or constipation as well as less than optimal overall health and wellness.

D) You may want to cut the fiber serving size in half or stop the fiber drink until you begin moving waste on a regular basis.

E) Gas: When probiotics are first introduced, some individuals may experience a slight increase in gas which is produced naturally as the beneficial microorganisms ferment unused, remaining nutrients.

7)  Why drink WATER? Drink the recommended daily amount of water. To conclude Tips for the Advocare 10 Day Cleanse; It is very important that individuals drink a full glass of water immediately following consumption of Fiber Drink.  The fiber blend in Fiber Drink continues to absorb water as it passes through the digestive tract. If adequate water is not consumed with Fiber Drink, fluid may be pulled from surrounding tissues, but still may not be adequate, resulting in constipation.

So, here are a few of our favorite 24 Day Challenge Approved Recipes.

Easy Egg Wraps

2 min Prep Time  / 2 min Cook Time / 4 min Total Time

These Easy Egg Wraps are perfect for a low-carb, high-protein snack. Make several ahead of time and fill with things like turkey, avocado, hummus and more.

Egg Wrap
Ingredients
1 Egg per wrap
Coconut oil or oil spray
and any of the optional choices.
Optional fillings: turkey, avocado, cheese, hummus, fruit, yogurt, etc… Make it your own!
Optional seasonings: salt, pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper, basil, oregano, etc.

Instructions:

  • Whisk the eggs in a bowl until there are no lumps and you cannot see any seperate egg yolk or white pieces.
  • Heat some coconut oil (or butter) in a frying pan.
  • Pour a good scoop of the egg mixturee into the frying pan and rotate the pan to let the egg spread out into a thin layer. The thinner the better when using eggs as wraps.
  • Once cooked on one side, flip over.
  • Remove each wrap as they cook and leave on a plate and allow to cool.
  • Repeat with all the mixture until you have made enough wraps.
  • Place your favorite filling inside and roll up.

 

 

PROTEIN POWDER PEANUT BUTTER ENERGY BALLS

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cashews
  • 1 cup oatmeal (blend to powder)
  • 4 scoops Advocare muscle gain (Chocolate or Vanilla)
  • 1/2 cup agave or honey
  • 1 cup peanut butter

Instructions:  Protein Balls

Mix together 1 cup peanut butter, 1/2 cup honey (or Agave), and 4 scoops of Advocare Chocolate (Vanilla) Muscle Gain. Roll into 28-30 balls and refrigerate for 2 hours. Enjoy.

 

 

PB&J Crepe

Similar to the egg wrap this crepe is another amazing 24 Day Challenge Approved Recipes

Ingredients:
Your serving* in egg whites
Your serving* of peanut butter or PB2
1 packet of Oasis 

Instructions:

Spray non-stick spray into a medium saute pan until coated.

Heat over medium heat.

Once the pan is hot pour in the egg whites.

Add peanut butter & Oasis to half of the egg whites.

Cook until egg whites turn from translucent to white while periodically lifting upthe edges.

Once cooked through, fold in half.

Serve immediately.
Preparation Time: 2 minutes
Cook Time: About 5 minutes

*Yield: Adjust portions to your serving size. Remember that 2 egg whites (1/4 cup) equals 1 ounce of protein. Do you know how many eggs you should eat for your size?

 

 

24 Day Challenge Approved Recipes

 

Garden Fresh Salad

Ingredients:
4 eggs
asparagus, (1 bunch) ends trimmed
curly endive (about a cup)
1 cup dandelion greens
½ cup cherry tomatoes, halved
⅛ cup red onion, thinly sliced
½ red bell pepper, thinly sliced into matchsticks
1 packet Stevia
2 Tablespoons lime juice
1 garlic clove, minced
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1 Tablespoon raspberry vinegar

Instructions:
Place the eggs in a pan of water; bring to a simmer for 6 minutes.

Remove from heat. Crack the eggs all over, and then place in a pan of cold water for one minute. Remove from water, peel, and slice. Set aside.

Bring a medium pot of salted water to boil.

Add the asparagus and cook for 4 minutes. Rinse in cold water then set aside.

In a large salad bowl combine the endive, dandelion greens, tomato, onion and pepper.

In a small bowl combine the Stevia, lime juice, garlic, Dijon and vinegar. Mix well.

Coat the salad with the dressing. Top with asparagus and sliced egg.

 

 

Fruit Dip with JAZZ

Light cool whip 8oz

1 low fat cream cheese 8oz
(1) stick pack or scoop of fruit punch (or any flavor) spark

Instructions:

Mix all ingredients into a delisious dip. Use you favorite fruit and dip.

Red pepper hummus

Toasted sesame seeds and

Grape tomatoes cut in half

Servings: 1

Ingredients:
1 sprouted grain, flourless tortilla
1 Tablespoon hummus
⅓ cup cooked brown rice
black beans, ¼ cup cooked
½ cup cooked chicken, chopped (or baked tofu)
2 Tablespoons fresh corn kernels
2 Tablespoons chopped cucumber
¼ cup shredded arugula
3 cherry tomatoes, chopped

Instructions:

Warm the tortilla in a dry skillet.

Spread the hummus evenly over the tortilla.

Top the tortilla with rice, beans, chicken and veggies.

Fold the two sides of the tortilla in over the filling, then flip up the bottom edge and roll tightly. Serve with a side of your favorite salsa.

 

Rosemary and Garlic Roasted Salmon

2 garlic cloves
2 fresh 6″ rosemary sprigs, about 1 tablespoon chopped

1 1/2 to 2 pounds salmon
1/8 teaspoon sea salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Preheat oven to 425°. Peel and chop garlic and rosemary and set aside. Place salmon on a parchment lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, rosemary, and garlic.

Place in the oven and roast for 12 minutes or until the salmon is flaky.
